Ah! That’s a classic oven-cleaning hack. 😄 You don’t have to scrub if you do it right. Here’s how it works safely:

🧽 Oven Rack Cleaning Without Scrubbing

What you need:

  • Large Trash bag (heavy-duty or contractor size)
  • 1 cup Ammonia
  • Optional: gloves and ventilation

Instructions:

  1. Place the oven rack in the bag
    • Make sure the bag is big enough to hold the rack flat.
  2. Add ammonia
    • Pour about 1 cup of ammonia into the bag.
    • Seal the bag tightly to trap the fumes.
  3. Let it sit overnight
    • The ammonia vapors break down grease and burnt-on food, no scrubbing needed.
    • Make sure the bag is in a safe, ventilated area away from pets or children.
  4. Rinse and dry
    • The next day, carefully open the bag.
    • Rinse the oven rack with warm water—most of the grime should wash off easily.

⚠️ Safety Tips

  • Ammonia fumes are strong—use gloves and ventilate the area.
  • Don’t mix ammonia with bleach or other cleaners.
  • Only use bags that can handle ammonia fumes and weight of the rack.

✅ Result: Your oven racks will look almost brand-new, with no heavy scrubbing required.
