Here’s a delicious and easy Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken recipe—sweet, sticky, and perfectly crispy:


Ingredients (serves 4)

For the chicken:

  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For the honey garlic sauce:

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water (for thickening)

Optional garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

1. Prepare the chicken

  1. In one bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip chicken pieces in beaten eggs, then coat in the flour-cornstarch mixture.

2. Fry the chicken

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through (about 4–5 minutes per batch).
  3. Drain on paper towels.

3. Make the honey garlic sauce

  1. In a small pan over medium heat, combine honey, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Stir in cornstarch slurry to thicken, cooking 1–2 minutes until glossy.

4. Combine and serve

  1. Toss fried chicken in the sauce until evenly coated.
  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  3. Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.

Tips for extra crispiness:

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough (~350°F / 175°C) before frying.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—fry in batches.
  • Toss chicken in sauce just before serving to keep it crispy.
