Here are the normal blood pressure values according to age.

Posted on March 29, 2026 by Admin

Blood pressure doesn’t have sharply different “normal” values for every age group—doctors mostly use standard adult ranges, with some flexibility for children and older adults. Here’s a clear, accurate guide:

🩺 Standard blood pressure categories (adults)

(Measured in mmHg)

  • Normal: less than 120 / 80
  • Elevated: 120–129 / less than 80
  • High (Stage 1): 130–139 / 80–89
  • High (Stage 2): 140+ / 90+
  • Hypertensive crisis: 180+ / 120+ (medical emergency)

This is based on guidelines from organizations like the American Heart Association.

👶 Children & teenagers

Normal BP varies by:

  • Age
  • Height
  • Gender

Doctors use charts, but roughly:

  • Children usually have lower BP than adults
  • Teenagers approach adult ranges

👴 Older adults (60+)

  • Ideal target is often still around below 130/80
  • Doctors may allow slightly higher values depending on health and medications

📊 Simple age-based overview (approximate)

Age group Typical healthy range
Kids (6–12) ~90–110 / 55–75
Teens ~100–120 / 60–80
Adults (18–60) <120 / 80
Older adults <130 / 80 (flexible)

⚠️ Important notes

  • “Normal for your age” is not an excuse for high BP
  • High blood pressure (Hypertension) can be silent but dangerous
  • One reading isn’t enough—look at trends over time

✅ What keeps BP healthy

  • Reduce salt intake
  • Stay active
  • Maintain healthy weight
  • Manage stress
  • Avoid smoking

If you want, tell me your age and recent BP readings, and I can help you interpret whether they’re healthy or not.
