🧾 Ingredients

For the batter:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups (345g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt

For the cinnamon topping:

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

1. Prepare slow cooker

  • Lightly grease your slow cooker (6–7 quart)
  • Optionally, line with parchment paper for easier removal

2. Make the batter

  • Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla
  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and mix until smooth

3. Spread in slow cooker

  • Press batter evenly into the bottom of the slow cooker

4. Add cinnamon sugar

  • Mix 2 tbsp sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Sprinkle evenly over batter

5. Cook

  • Cover and cook on Low for 2–3 hours
  • Check at 2 hours—edges should be firm, center slightly soft

6. Cool & serve

  • Let bars cool slightly before cutting
  • Optional: dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with icing

  • Avoid opening the lid too often—slow cookers lose heat
  • Use a silicone spatula to loosen edges before cutting
  • For extra soft bars, cook closer to 2 hours; for slightly firmer, closer to 3 hours

  • Drizzle caramel or cream cheese frosting after cooling
