🍒 Cherry Pie Bars

🧾 Ingredients

For the crust & topping

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

For the filling

  • 1 can (or ~2 cups) cherry pie filling
    (or sweetened fresh cherries)

🔥 Instructions

1. Make the batter

  • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  • Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla
  • Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt

2. Layer the base

  • Grease a baking pan
  • Spread about 2/3 of the batter evenly on the bottom

3. Add filling

  • Spread cherry filling evenly over the base

4. Add topping

  • Drop spoonfuls of remaining batter over the cherries
    (It won’t fully cover—this gives that classic look)

5. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–40 minutes
  • Until golden brown on top

  • Let it cool completely before cutting into bars
  • Optional: drizzle with simple icing (powdered sugar + milk)
