🧾 Ingredients

Banana bread batter:

  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt

Cream cheese filling:

  • 200 g cream cheese (softened)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven

  • Set to 175°C (350°F)
  • Grease or line a loaf pan

2. Make cream cheese filling

In a bowl, mix:

  • cream cheese
  • sugar
  • egg yolk
  • vanilla
    Beat until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

3. Prepare banana batter

In another bowl:

  • Mash bananas
  • Mix in melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla
  • Add flour, baking soda, and salt
  • Stir until just combined (don’t overmix)

4. Layer the bread

  • Pour half the banana batter into the loaf pan
  • Spread cream cheese mixture on top
  • Add remaining banana batter over it
  • Optional: swirl gently with a knife for a marbled effect

5. Bake

  • Bake 50–60 minutes
  • Check with a toothpick (banana part should come out clean; cream cheese may stay slightly soft)

6. Cool & serve

  • Let cool at least 20–30 minutes before slicing
  • Chill for cleaner slices if desired

🍯 Tips for best results

  • Use very ripe bananas (brown spots = more flavor)
  • Don’t overmix batter for a soft texture
  • Add chocolate chips or walnuts for extra richness
  • Store in the fridge because of the cream cheese layer
