🧾 Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the batter topping:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

🔥 Instructions

1. Cook the beef filling

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
  • In a pan, cook ground beef until browned
  • Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft
  • Stir in ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, and paprika
  • Remove from heat

2. Assemble pie base

  • Grease a pie dish or baking dish
  • Spread beef mixture evenly

3. Make batter topping

  • In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, flour, baking powder, melted butter, and salt
  • Mix until smooth (like pancake batter)

4. Bake

  • Pour batter evenly over beef and cheese

5. Serve

  • Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing
  • Serve warm
