Ingredients

  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup (optional, for color)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (slurry)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip chicken pieces in beaten eggs, then coat in the flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy, about 4–5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.

2. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

  1. In a small pan, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  3. Add honey, soy sauce, and ketchup. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. Cook 1–2 minutes until glossy.

3. Combine

  • Toss the fried chicken in the honey garlic sauce until fully coated.
  • Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.

Tips for Extra Crispiness

  • Double-fry the chicken: fry once at 325°F, drain, then fry again at 350°F for a crunchier crust.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—fry in small batches.
  • Serve sauce hot; coating cold chicken can make it soggy.
