Ah, the classic. Simple, golden, perfect. Let’s do it right.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or brioche)
  • 1–2 slices cheese (American for melt, cheddar for flavor, or a combo)
  • 1–2 tbsp butter, softened
    (or mayo if you’re feeling rebellious)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Patience = better melt.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice butter-side down in the skillet.
  4. Add the cheese on top.
  5. Top with the second slice, butter-side up.
  6. Cook 3–4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  7. Flip carefully and cook another 3–4 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the other side is golden.
  8. Remove, rest 30 seconds, slice, devour.

Pro Tips (tiny upgrades, big payoff)

  • 🧀 Cheese blend: American + sharp cheddar = melt + flavor
  • 🔥 If bread browns too fast, lower the heat and cover the pan for 30–60 seconds
  • 🧄 Add a light sprinkle of garlic powder to the butter
  • 🥪 Press gently with a spatula for max crisp

Fun Variations

  • Gourmet: Sourdough + gruyère + a swipe of Dijon inside
  • Extra crispy: Sprinkle a little shredded cheese on the pan before placing the bread
  • Tomato melt: Add thin tomato slices (pat dry!)
