Just do this thing and all the dirt will come out of the washing machine soon after

Ah — this is one of those simple washing machine maintenance tricks that actually works 👌

If your washer smells musty or leaves residue on clothes, buildup inside is usually from:

  • Detergent residue
  • Fabric softener film
  • Hard water minerals
  • Mold in the gasket (front-loaders especially)

Here’s the simple fix:

🧼 The “Deep Clean” Trick

What You Need:

  • 2 cups white vinegar
  • ½ cup baking soda

Step 1: Vinegar Wash

  1. Set the machine to the hottest, longest cycle (empty drum).
  2. Pour 2 cups white vinegar directly into the drum.
  3. Run the full cycle.

This dissolves mineral buildup and kills odor-causing bacteria.

Step 2: Baking Soda Rinse

  1. Add ½ cup baking soda to the drum.
  2. Run another hot cycle.

This helps loosen remaining grime and deodorizes.

🧽 Don’t Skip This Part

After cycles finish:

  • Wipe the rubber gasket (front-loaders collect mold here).
  • Clean the detergent drawer.
  • Leave the door open to air dry.

💡 How Often?

  • Once a month for regular use.
  • Every 2 weeks if you notice smells.

⚠️ Important

Do not mix vinegar and baking soda together at the same time — they cancel each other out. Run them in separate cycles.

If you tell me whether you have a top-loader or front-loader, I can give you the best version specifically for your machine type (they need slightly different care).
