Crockpot barbecue ribs

Posted on March 4, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a tender, fall-off-the-bone Crockpot Barbecue Ribs recipe — easy prep, big flavor.

🍖 Crockpot Barbecue Ribs

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 2–3 lbs pork baby back ribs (or spare ribs)
  • 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce (your favorite)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional for heat)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the ribs

  • Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs (this helps tenderness).
  • Pat dry with paper towels.

2️⃣ Make the dry rub

  • Mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and chili powder.
  • Rub generously over both sides of the ribs.

3️⃣ Arrange in crockpot

  • Cut ribs into sections so they fit standing upright along the inside wall of the slow cooker (meaty side facing out).
  • Pour 1 cup of barbecue sauce over the ribs.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce if using.

4️⃣ Cook

  • Low: 6–8 hours (best for tenderness)
  • High: 3–4 hours

Ribs should be very tender but not falling apart completely.

🔥 Optional: Finish Under Broiler (Recommended!)

For sticky, caramelized ribs:

  1. Carefully transfer ribs to a baking sheet lined with foil.
  2. Brush with remaining barbecue sauce.
  3. Broil 3–5 minutes until bubbly and slightly charred.

Tips for Perfect Ribs

  • Don’t add extra water — ribs release plenty of juices.
  • For deeper flavor, let the rubbed ribs sit in the fridge 1–4 hours before cooking.
  • If sauce is too thin after cooking, simmer it in a saucepan 5–10 minutes to thicken.

If you’d like, I can also give:

  • A no-sugar version
  • A honey garlic variation
  • Or a country-style boneless rib version
