Here’s a tried-and-true recipe for Amish Cinnamon Bread — soft, moist, sweet, and loaded with cinnamon-sugar swirls. Best part? No yeast needed!

🍞 Amish Cinnamon Bread (No-Yeast)

🕒 Prep Time: 15 minutes

⏲️ Bake Time: 50–60 minutes

🍽️ Makes: 1 large loaf or 2 small loaves

✨ Ingredients

For the Batter:

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar)

  • 1 cup sugar

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Swirl:

  • ⅓ cup sugar

  • 1–2 tsp ground cinnamon

🥣 Instructions

1. Preheat Oven & Prep Pan:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease and flour a 9×5″ loaf pan (or two smaller pans).

2. Make the Batter:

  • Cream together butter, sugar, and eggs until fluffy.

  • Mix in buttermilk and vanilla.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour and baking soda, then add to wet mixture until just combined.

3. Layer the Batter and Cinnamon Sugar:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the ⅓ cup sugar and cinnamon.

  • Pour half the batter into the loaf pan.

  • Sprinkle half the cinnamon-sugar over the batter.

  • Pour in the remaining batter, then top with the rest of the cinnamon-sugar.

  • Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar through the batter (just a few swirls!).

4. Bake:

  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

🧈 Serve & Store:

  • Serve warm with butter or enjoy as-is.

  • Keeps well at room temp for 3 days or freeze slices for up to 2 months.

🔁 Variations:

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.

  • Use brown sugar in the cinnamon layer for deeper flavor.

  • Make it mini-loaf size for gifts!
