Here’s a festive and crowd-pleasing Christmas dessert you’ll love:

🎄 Classic Christmas Trifle

A beautiful layered dessert with cake, custard, fruit, and cream—perfect for holidays like Christmas.

Ingredients (serves 6–8)

  • 1 sponge cake or pound cake (store-bought or homemade), cubed
  • 2 cups custard (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam or jelly (strawberry or raspberry works great)
  • 1/4 cup fruit juice or milk (to moisten cake)
  • Optional: chocolate shavings, nuts, or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base
    • Place a layer of cake cubes at the bottom of a glass bowl or dish.
    • Lightly drizzle with fruit juice or milk to keep it moist.
  2. Add jam and fruit
    • Spread a thin layer of jam over the cake.
    • Add a layer of fresh berries.
  3. Add custard
    • Pour a layer of custard over the fruit and spread evenly.
  4. Repeat layers
    • Repeat the layers (cake → fruit → custard) until the bowl is filled.
  5. Top with cream
    • Finish with a thick layer of whipped cream.
  6. Decorate
    • Add berries, chocolate shavings, or festive sprinkles on top.
  7. Chill and serve
    • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving so the flavors blend beautifully.

Tips

  • For an adult version, drizzle a little fruit liqueur over the cake.
  • Use vanilla or chocolate custard depending on your preference.
  • Make it ahead—this dessert tastes even better the next day!
