Here’s a classic oatmeal cookies recipe—soft, chewy, and full of flavor. Perfect for snacking or dessert!


Classic Oatmeal Cookies (Makes ~24 cookies)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 cups (270 g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup (150 g) raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Make the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Stir in oats and raisins or chocolate chips (if using).

3. Shape and Bake

  1. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets (about 1–2 tbsp per cookie), spacing ~2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  3. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips

  • Chewier cookies: Use all brown sugar and slightly underbake by 1–2 minutes.
  • Crunchier cookies: Use more granulated sugar and bake a bit longer.
  • Add-ins: Chopped nuts, coconut, or dried cranberries work beautifully.
