Here’s a classic, easy-to-make Apple Slab Pie—great for feeding a crowd and perfect for fall flavors.

🍎 Apple Slab Pie

🛒 Ingredients (9×13 pan)

For the crust:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 6–8 tablespoons ice water

For the filling:

  • 6–8 medium Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For topping:

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for sprinkling)

🔪 Instructions

1. Make the Crust

  1. In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
  2. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until dough comes together.
  4. Divide dough in half, wrap in plastic, and chill 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the Filling

  1. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.

3. Assemble the Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out one half of the dough to fit the bottom of a greased 9×13 pan.
  3. Spread apple mixture evenly over the crust.
  4. Roll out the second half of the dough and place on top. Seal edges and cut a few slits for steam.
  5. Brush top with beaten egg and sprinkle sugar if desired.

4. Bake

  • Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  • Let cool 15–20 minutes before slicing into slabs.

💡 Tips

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples (like Granny Smith + Honeycrisp) for depth of flavor
  • Add a handful of Raisins or chopped nuts for extra texture
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

If you want, I can make a shortcut version using pre-made pie crusts and minimal prep that’s ready in under 45 minutes.
