Bazlama

Posted on April 6, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a simple and authentic Bazlama recipe—a soft, fluffy Turkish flatbread that’s perfect for sandwiches or dipping:

🫓 Bazlama (Turkish Flatbread)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm water (adjust as needed)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the dough

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Gradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

2. First rise

  • Cover dough with a damp cloth.
  • Let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.

3. Shape the flatbreads

  1. Divide dough into 6–8 equal pieces.
  2. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten into ½ cm thick rounds.

4. Cook the Bazlama

  1. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat (no oil needed).
  2. Cook each flatbread 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and puffed.
  3. Remove and keep covered in a clean towel to stay soft.

5. Serve

  • Enjoy warm with butter, cheese, or dips.
  • Perfect for sandwiches or alongside soups and stews.

💡 Tips

  • If the dough feels sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
  • For extra flavor, brush lightly with olive oil after cooking.
  • You can freeze cooked Bazlama and reheat in a pan or oven.

If you want, I can also give a quick 30-minute version that skips the long rise but still makes soft, fluffy Bazlama.

Do you want me to do that?
