🧂 Ingredients

For the biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • ½ cup cold butter (cubed)
  • ¾ cup milk

For the gravy

  • 300–400 g ground sausage (or spiced minced meat)
  • 2 tbsp butter (if needed)
  • 2–3 tbsp flour
  • 2½ cups milk
  • 1 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste

🍳 Instructions

1. Make the biscuits

  • Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F)
  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar
  • Cut in cold butter until mixture looks crumbly
  • Add milk and mix gently (don’t overwork dough)
  • Roll or pat out and cut into rounds
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden

2. Cook the sausage

  • In a pan, cook sausage over medium heat until browned
  • Don’t drain all the fat (it adds flavor)

3. Make the gravy

  • Sprinkle flour over cooked sausage and stir
  • Cook 1–2 minutes
  • Slowly add milk while stirring
  • Simmer until thick and creamy
  • Add black pepper and salt to taste

4. Serve

  • Split warm biscuits in half
  • Spoon hot sausage gravy over the top
