🧾 Ingredients (9×13 inch pan – serves a crowd)

Crust & crumble:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt

Filling:

  • 1 can (about 400g) cherry pie filling
    (or homemade cherry filling if preferred)

Optional glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Set to 175°C (350°F)
  • Grease or line a 9×13 baking pan

2. Make batter

  • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  • Add eggs one at a time
  • Mix in vanilla
  • Add flour and salt
  • Mix until thick batter forms

3. Assemble

  • Spread about ⅔ of the batter into the pan (base layer)
  • Spoon cherry filling evenly on top
  • Drop remaining batter in small spoonfuls over cherries (don’t fully cover)

4. Bake

  • Bake for 35–45 minutes
  • Top should be golden and set

5. Cool & glaze

  • Let cool completely
  • Drizzle optional glaze on top

🍒 Tips for best results

  • Don’t fully spread top layer—let cherries peek through for a bakery look
  • Cool completely before cutting for clean bars
  • Chill before serving for firmer texture
