Here’s a classic Chicken Fried Chicken recipe—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside 🍗🍽️


🍗 Chicken Fried Chicken

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

For the Coating

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a little heat)

For Frying

  • ½ cup Vegetable oil

Optional Gravy

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt & pepper to taste

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Marinate Chicken

  1. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness (~½ inch)
  2. Place chicken in a bowl with buttermilk, salt, pepper, and paprika
  3. Cover and refrigerate 1–2 hours (or overnight for extra tenderness)

2. Prepare Coating

  • In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne

3. Coat Chicken

  • Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off
  • Dredge in flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat evenly
  • Shake off excess flour

4. Fry Chicken

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat
  2. Fry chicken 4–5 minutes per side, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C)
  3. Drain on paper towels

5. Optional Gravy

  1. In a small pan, melt butter over medium heat
  2. Whisk in flour and cook 1–2 minutes until golden
  3. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thickened
  4. Season with salt and pepper

6. Serve

  • Plate chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, or your favorite sides
  • Enjoy immediately while crispy

🔥 Tips

  • Use a cast-iron skillet for even frying
  • For extra crunch, double dredge: flour → egg wash → flour
  • Let chicken rest a few minutes before serving for juicier meat
