Classic Beef Empanadas

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. Make the dough

  3. Add egg and cold water a little at a time.
  4. Knead just until smooth.
  5. Wrap and chill 30 minutes.

2. Make the filling

  1. Heat oil in a skillet.
  2. Sauté onion until soft, add garlic.
  3. Add beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in spices, salt, pepper.
  5. Let cool completely (important!).

3. Assemble

  1. Roll dough thin (⅛ inch).
  2. Cut circles (4–5 inches).
  3. Add 2–3 tbsp filling to center.
  4. Fold, seal edges with fork or crimp.

4. Cook

  • Bake: 400°F (205°C) for 20–25 min, brush with egg wash
