Homemade Spaghetti Sauce 🍝🍅
A classic, rich sauce perfect for pasta nights.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 small Onion, finely chopped
- 3–4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 lb Ground Beef (optional)
- 1 can (28 oz) Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) Tomato Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
- ½ teaspoon Sugar (optional, reduces acidity)
- Salt and Black Pepper to taste
- ½ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (optional for heat)
- Fresh Parsley or Basil for garnish
Instructions
1. Sauté aromatics
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
2. Cook the meat (optional)
Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
3. Add tomatoes and seasonings
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Add oregano, basil, sugar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
4. Simmer
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer it cooks, the richer the flavor.
5. Serve
Spoon the sauce over cooked Spaghetti and garnish with fresh herbs or grated Parmesan Cheese.
Tips
- For deeper flavor, add diced Bell Pepper or sliced Mushrooms.
- A splash of Red Wine while simmering gives a restaurant-style taste.
- The sauce freezes well for up to 3 months.
