I don’t even think about scrubbing my dirty oven anymore: a friend taught me this trick and now it’s as good as new, simply!

Posted on February 26, 2026 by Admin

That sounds like the popular “no-scrub oven” trick 😊 It really can make cleaning much easier when done safely.

Here are two effective methods people use:

🧼 Method 1: The Ammonia Fume Trick (For Oven Racks)

⚠️ Best done outdoors or in a very well-ventilated area.

What you need:

  • Large heavy-duty trash bag
  • ½–1 cup household ammonia
  • Gloves

Steps:

  1. Place oven racks inside the trash bag.
  2. Pour ammonia into the bag (it doesn’t need to cover the racks — fumes do the work).
  3. Seal the bag tightly.
  4. Leave overnight.
  5. The next day, open carefully (avoid breathing fumes).
  6. Wipe racks clean and rinse thoroughly with warm soapy water.

❗ Never mix ammonia with bleach — it creates toxic gas.

🌿 Method 2: Baking Soda Paste (Safer for Inside Oven)

What you need:

  • ½ cup baking soda
  • A few tablespoons water
  • Spray bottle with vinegar

Steps:

  1. Mix baking soda with enough water to form a thick paste.
  2. Spread inside the oven (avoid heating elements).
  3. Let sit 8–12 hours or overnight.
  4. Wipe out with a damp cloth.
  5. Spray vinegar on residue (it will foam), then wipe clean.

💡 Extra Tips

  • Clean spills quickly before they harden.
  • Avoid harsh metal scrubbers (they scratch enamel).
  • Keep the door slightly open afterward to air dry.

If you’d like, I can share a 5-minute quick clean version for lightly dirty ovens too.
