Here’s a delicious Monterey Sausage Pie recipe—savory, cheesy, and perfect for a hearty breakfast, brunch, or dinner.


🥧 Monterey Sausage Pie

🧾 Ingredients

For the crust (or use store-bought)

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust (9-inch)
  • OR homemade pie crust

For the filling

  • 1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, based on preference)
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Preheat to 375°F (190°C)

2. Cook the sausage

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned
  • Add onion (and bell pepper if using) and sauté until soft
  • Drain excess fat if needed

3. Prepare the pie crust

  • Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan
  • Optional: pre-bake for 5 minutes for a firmer bottom

4. Assemble the pie

  • Spread the cooked sausage mixture evenly in the crust
  • Sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack cheese on top
  • In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder
  • Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese

5. Bake

  • Bake 35–40 minutes until the filling is set and golden on top
  • Let it cool 5–10 minutes before slicing

💡 Tips

  • Add chopped jalapeños for a spicy kick
  • Substitute cheddar or a mix of cheeses if you prefer
  • Can be made ahead and reheated for a quick meal
