🧾 Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 1 celery stalk, finely diced (optional)
  • 1 can (14 oz / 400 g) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 8 oz (225 g) spaghetti, broken in half
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Grated Parmesan and fresh parsley for garnish

🍴 Instructions

1. Brown the meat

  • Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet or pot over medium heat
  • Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned
  • Remove excess fat if needed

2. Sauté vegetables

  • Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic
  • Cook 5–7 minutes until soft and fragrant

3. Add liquids and seasonings

  • Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, broth, oregano, basil, and chili flakes
  • Mix well and bring to a simmer

4. Add spaghetti

  • Add broken spaghetti directly to the pot
  • Push it down so it’s mostly submerged in the liquid

5. Simmer

  • Cover and cook 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally
  • Add a little more broth if spaghetti absorbs too quickly
  • Cook until pasta is tender and sauce has thickened

6. Serve

  • Garnish with grated Parmesan and fresh parsley
  • Serve hot with garlic bread or a side salad

  • For extra richness, add a splash of milk or cream at the end
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free spaghetti if preferred
