Here’s a crispy, flavorful oven-fried chicken legs recipe—no deep frying, but still golden and juicy.


🍗 Oven-Fried Chicken Legs

🧾 Ingredients

  • 6–8 chicken drumsticks (skin on)
  • 2 tbsp oil (or melted butter)

For coating:

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed cornflakes for extra crunch)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional, for heat)

For dipping:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with foil and lightly grease it or place a wire rack on top.
  2. Prep chicken
    Pat the drumsticks dry (this helps crispiness).
  3. Set up coating station
    • Bowl 1: Flour + half the spices
    • Bowl 2: Eggs + milk (whisked)
    • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs + remaining spices
  4. Coat the chicken
    • Roll each piece in flour
    • Dip into egg mixture
    • Coat well in breadcrumbs
  5. Arrange & oil
    Place on the tray and lightly brush or spray with oil.
  6. Bake
    Bake for 40–45 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Rest & serve
    Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

🔥 Tips for extra crispiness

  • Use a wire rack so heat circulates underneath
  • Crushed cornflakes give a crunchier texture than breadcrumbs
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan
