🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped
  • 200g smoked sausage, sliced (e.g., kielbasa or andouille)
  • 200g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • 2–3 green onions, chopped for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Cook the sausage & shrimp

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sausage slices and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add shrimp and cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.

2. Sauté the aromatics

  1. Add remaining oil or butter to skillet.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent and fragrant.

3. Cook the cabbage

  1. Add chopped cabbage to skillet.
  2. Sprinkle smoked paprika, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour chicken broth over cabbage.
  4. Cover and cook 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.

4. Combine everything

  • Return sausage and shrimp to skillet
  • Stir gently to combine and heat through

5. Serve

  • Garnish with chopped green onions
  • Serve hot with cornbread or rice for a full Southern meal
