🥔 Crock Pot Foil-Wrapped Potatoes

🧾 Ingredients

  • 4–6 medium potatoes (Russet or any firm potatoes work best)
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (optional)
  • Foil (aluminum/tin foil)

Optional toppings (for serving):

  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Green onions / coriander
  • Garlic powder or chili flakes

🔪 Instructions

1. Prep the potatoes

  • Wash potatoes thoroughly and scrub the skin.
  • Pat dry.
  • Poke each potato 4–5 times with a fork (this helps steam escape).
  • Rub lightly with olive oil or butter.
  • Sprinkle with salt (and pepper if you like).

2. Wrap in foil

  • Wrap each potato tightly in aluminum foil.
  • Make sure they are fully sealed.

3. Place in crock pot

  • Place wrapped potatoes directly into the slow cooker.
  • No water needed.

4. Cook

  • Low setting: 7–8 hours
  • High setting: 4–5 hours

Potatoes are done when a fork slides in easily.


5. Serve

  • Carefully unwrap (steam will be hot).
  • Slice open and fluff inside with a fork.
  • Add butter, cheese, sour cream, or your favorite toppings.

  • Use similar-sized potatoes so they cook evenly.
  • Don’t overcrowd—single layer is ideal.
  • For crisp skin, you can unwrap and place under a broiler for 5 minutes after cooking.
