Your oven hood filter is a greasy mess. Effortlessly get it clean like new again.

Posted on February 7, 2026 by Admin

Ah yes — oven hood filters get greasy quickly, and if left, they can block airflow and smell bad. Here’s an easy, “like-new” cleaning method that actually works without harsh scrubbing:

Effortless Oven Hood Filter Cleaning

What You’ll Need

  • Hot water (enough to fully submerge the filter)
  • ¼–½ cup baking soda
  • Dish soap (preferably degreasing type)
  • Large sink, basin, or bathtub
  • Non-abrasive sponge or soft brush

Instructions

1. Remove the Filter

  • Carefully slide or unsnap the filter from the hood.
  • Place it in a sink or large basin that can hold it fully submerged.

2. Make a Cleaning Solution

  • Fill the sink/basin with hot water.
  • Add ¼ cup baking soda and a few drops of dish soap. Stir to dissolve.

3. Soak

  • Submerge the filter completely.
  • Let it soak for 15–30 minutes (longer if extremely greasy).

4. Scrub Gently

  • Use a soft sponge or brush to wipe away grease.
  • Most of the buildup should come off easily after soaking.

5. Rinse & Dry

  • Rinse thoroughly with hot water to remove soap and grease residue.
  • Shake off excess water and let air dry completely before reinstalling.

Pro Tips

  • Heavy grease: Add ½ cup white vinegar to the solution for extra degreasing power.
  • Routine maintenance: Clean filters every 1–2 months to prevent heavy buildup.
  • Dishwasher-safe filters: Some metal filters can go in the dishwasher on the top rack — still check the manual first.

💡 Bonus hack: Sprinkle a little baking soda directly on the filter after soaking, then scrub gently — it works like a magic grease magnet.

If you want, I can also give a “15-minute turbo hack” using just boiling water and baking soda — no scrubbing needed at all for most filters.

Do you want me to do that?
