Here’s a crispy, golden Popcorn Shrimp recipe—perfect as a snack, appetizer, or party food.


🍤 Popcorn Shrimp

🧾 Ingredients

Shrimp:

  • 300–400 g small shrimp (peeled & deveined)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Coating:

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 egg
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or water
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder (optional for spice)
  • Oil for frying

🔥 Instructions

1. Prepare shrimp

  • Pat shrimp dry
  • Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and lemon juice
  • Let sit for 10 minutes

2. Set up coating station

  • Bowl 1: flour + garlic powder + chili powder
  • Bowl 2: beaten egg + milk
  • Bowl 3: breadcrumbs

3. Coat shrimp

  • Dip shrimp in flour
  • Then egg mixture
  • Finally coat with breadcrumbs
  • Press lightly so coating sticks well

4. Fry

  • Heat oil to medium-high (around 170–180°C / 340–350°F)
  • Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes
  • Cook until golden and crispy
  • Drain on paper towels

🍽️ Serve with

  • Garlic mayo
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Ketchup or spicy dip
  • Lemon wedges

🔑 Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan (keeps them crispy)
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for restaurant-style crunch
  • Shrimp cook very fast—don’t over-fry
