Italian Sub Squares,

Posted on April 27, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a crowd-pleasing Italian Sub Squares recipe—basically all the flavors of an Italian sub baked into a warm, cheesy slab you can slice and serve.

🥪 Italian Sub Squares

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
  • 200–250g deli ham
  • 200g salami or pepperoni
  • 200g turkey or more ham
  • 6–8 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup roasted red peppers or sliced tomatoes (optional)
  • ¼ cup sliced olives or banana peppers (optional)

🥚 Egg topping

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Bottom layer
Press one can of dough into the bottom of the dish, sealing seams.
  3. Layer the fillings
    • Cheese slices
    • Ham
    • Salami/pepperoni
    • Turkey
    • Optional veggies
    • Top with another layer of cheese
  4. Top layer
Add the second dough sheet on top and pinch edges to seal.
  5. Add egg mixture
Whisk eggs, parmesan, seasoning, and olive oil. Brush evenly over the top.
  6. Bake
    30–35 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. Rest & slice
Let it sit 10–15 minutes before cutting into squares.

🔥 Tips for best flavor

  • Use a mix of meats for that classic “sub” taste
  • Don’t skip the egg topping—it gives a bakery-style crust
  • Add a drizzle of Italian dressing after baking for extra zing

🍽️ Serve with

  • Salad
  • Pickles or peppers
  • Chips or soup

If you want, I can give you a spicy version, a low-carb version, or a from-scratch dough recipe.
